About thirty members and invited guests attended our lunch meeting on July 21 at the Pearl Country Club.
The program began with our executive director Jon Young giving out his appreciation gift. Spencer Dung from WestPac Wealth Partnerswas the recipient of an assortment of gifts from Japan. Dung is the presenter of our HAPI Shorts session titled “Building Blocks for Financial Success.”
Our guest speaker was Lori M.K. Kahikina, P.E. Executive Director and CEO Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART). Kahikina began her presentation by answering the question “What is HART?” followed by an overview of the project.
The project has three operating segments as shown in the above graphic. The initial segment Kapolei to Aloha Stadium which opened on June 30, 2023. Segment 2 – Airport Extension – is scheduled to open in 2025. Segment 3 – City Center – is scheduled to open in 2031. She provided a status of both of the remaining sections.
Kahikina also addresses questions and concerns from the attendees including:
- Hammerhead repair and retrofit work.
- Public Restrooms
- Facility Maintenance
