Dear Members:
You are invited to enter the 2026 HAPI Photo Contest. Entries should be a high-resolution photo of a Hawaii paving or pavement treatment project either under construction or completed after October 1, 2025.
Eligibility:
We welcome photos that showcase Hawaiʻi and Guam’s asphalt pavement industry, including:
- Completed paving and pavement treatment projects
- Paving or pavement treatment operations in progress
- Crews and equipment at work
- Interesting or challenging project conditions
- Unique perspectives that highlight the project, location, people, or workmanship
Please note:
- This contest is for HAPI members only
- Photos shall be of HAPI member Hawaii and Guam projects.
(list of members: http://hawaiiasphalt.org/about/members/) - Maximum of two photos per project. Photos from the same project must be from different perspectives.
- There is no limit on the number of projects submitted by an individual or company.
- Minor adjustments such as cropping, brightness, contrast, and color correction are permitted. AI-generated images or images materially altered to add/remove project elements are not eligible.
- Photos should not prominently display unsafe or improper work practices.
Please email your photo to Sara Thomas at sara@hawaiiasphalt.org. Submission deadline is Friday, September 25, 2026.
Please provide the following information with each submittal:
- Your Name
- Your Company
- Project Name (if available)
- Member company in the photo
- Location of the Photo (including the City, Island)
Prizes:
- Winner = $75 Gift Card
- Honorable Mention (minimum 2 each) = $25 Gift Card
What judges are looking for:
Paving/Pavement Story – Photo clearly showcases asphalt paving, pavement treatment, a completed pavement, or the people/equipment involved in the work, while positively representing quality paving practices and workmanship.
Visual Impact – The photo should be an engaging, memorable image that draws attention.
Composition & Quality – The photo should demonstrate good framing, lighting, focus, perspective, and sufficient image quality.
Hawaiʻi/Guam & Industry Connection – The photo should capture something distinctive about the project, location, people, or HAPI member work.
Each criterion will be scored on a 1–5 scale. The photo receiving the highest overall score will be selected as the contest winner.
By submitting your photo, you are granting permission to HAPI to use the photo on the website, newsletter, Facebook page, Twitter, holiday card, and other HAPI promotional efforts.
The winning photo will also be displayed on the HAPI office walls (see photo below), along with previous winning photos. Follows are links to the photos submitted and results of our previous contests:
