Hawaii Roads – Low and Failing Grades?

It’s not often that the Hawaii DOT, the City & County of Honolulu, Private Industry, and academia gather to discuss our roads in Hawaii. Thanks to INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAII that discussion recently took place.

Road construction, highway maintenance, potholes, and traffic congestion are all elements said to contribute to Hawaii consistently getting a low or failing grade in nationwide surveys on roads. The following panelists gathered to discuss what can be done about this situation.

Panelists:
Ed Sniffen, Deputy Director, Hawaii DOT, Highways Division
Robert Kroning, Director, Dept. of Design and Construction, City & County of Honolulu
John Romanowski, Vice-President, Jas. W. Glover, Ltd.
A. Ricardo Archilla, Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Hawaii
