The first ever HAPI lunch meeting on Maui was held on October 19th at the Maui Beach Hotel. Over 30 HAPI members and guest got together to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch.
Ervin Pigao provided an update on the changes in procedures that allow for contractor testing for acceptance of the work. This change will be in effect for the upcoming HDOT Maui District Pavement Preservation Strategies Contract.
HAPI executive director followed with a presentation on open-graded mixes which answered the following questions:
– What are open graded mixes?
– Differences from dense graded mixes?
– Where have they been used in Hawaii?
– Where could they be used in the future?
– What’s next?
Following his lunch meeting tradition, our executive director Jon Young presented Kristi (County of Maui) with his appreciation gift to the members and industry partners. The recipient of the gift is from a drawing.
Everyone had a good time and thought that an annual meeting on Maui would be great!
