About 50 members and agency guests attended our lunch meeting. They were treated to an interesting and informative presentation by Mr. Mark Wong, Director and Chief Information Officer, Department of Information Technology, City and County of Honolulu.
Mr. Wong discussed the City’s Lokahi system, which uses all the latest technology and includes more than 17,000 layers of infrastructure and property data that can be viewed or displayed depending on the situation.
He described the system in relation to street usage permits and project coordination that improves effectiveness of the paving program and reduces project conflicts. Mr. Wong also presented the City’s plans for future access by consultants/contractors to the information in the system and future enhancements of the system.
Mr. Wong compared using Lokahi to what we see watching Hawaii 5-0.
Everyone enjoyed the presentation, and all were impressed. The word people used to describe what they saw was “amazing”.
