Black Plumeria Plant Tour

On January 23, Jas. W. Glover hosted a tour  their Black Plumeria Plant.  The visitors were 13 staff of the State Department of Transportation, Harbors  Division.

The tour started with a short classs room presentation about the plant followed by a lively question and answer session.  We then proceed to view the plant from a second-story lanai, where Rich Gribbin (Glover), explained the different components of the plant – aggregate stockpiles, the asphalt tank, the mixing drum, and the storage silos – and addressed all questions.

After learning about the plant, the group moved on to the lab and learned about the various test equipment that is used for the production and quality control of asphalt pavement.  The last stop was the chance to see the inside of a drum that was onsite a waiting to be installed.  Rich explained to the group what happens inside of the drum – how the flame goes thru the drum and how the aggregate gets dried.

It was an educational experience for the group.
