Abe Wong, Division Administrator for the Hawaii Division of the Federal Highway Administration is retiring.
Abe joined the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in 1973 as a junior engineer in FHWA’s Highway Engineering Training Program, after earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at State University of New York at Buffalo. Traveling across the country for training assignments and permanent positions, Abe has inspired progress within the field of transportation in states such as New Jersey, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, Missouri, and ultimately Hawaii. In 1992, Abe joined FHWA’s Hawaii Division office, serving as its Assistant Division Administrator until 1995 when he was appointed to the Division’s top leadership position of Division Administrator.
