The goal of this scholarship is to assist college students pursing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction engineering, and other degrees related to the design and construction infrastructure improvements.
We are pleased to introduce you to the 2025 HAPI Scholarship Recipients.
$1,000 Scholarship Recipients
Kaylee Noguchi Kaylee is a sophomore at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, College of Engineering pursuing a degree in civil engineering. Her goal is a career in construction management, with a specific interest in the asphalt industry. She is eager to understand the significance that asphalt plays in roadway, highways and airports. Most importantly, Kaylee desires to give back to her local communities by improving their infrastructure. She wants for communities remain safe by implementing more efficient and sustainable roads.
Romel Gasper Romel is enrolled in the Hawaii Pacific University, Master of Science in Construction Management program. He is fascinated by the techniques and materials used in projects. A long term goal of his is to contribute to Hawaii’s infrastructure by developing sustainable and durable systems for our communities. The asphalt industry is foundational to all infrastructure projects, and he is eager to explore innovative paving techniques and materials that can improve the longevity and environmental sustainability of our transportation systems. The challenges of maintaining quality infrastructure in Hawaii drives his passion for finding solutions that meet today’s needs and pave the way for a resilient future.
Saroj Pathak Saroj is a second time scholarship recipient. His commitment to the asphalt industry is evident in his Ph.D. specialization in Pavement Engineering, With a strong academic foundation in material science and pavement engineering, he is well-prepared to tackle the challenges faced by modern pavement engineering. Saroj is working on two pilot projects exploring the recycling of plastic in asphalt mixes. The intricate interplay of materials, design, construction, and maintenance within pavement engineering offers a dynamic and continually evolving field that he excited to explore further.
