The State Asphalt Pavement Associations (SAPA) conducted their annual winter meeting on the Friday (January 20th) before the NAPA meeting at Marco Island, Florida . The morning half of the meeting was spent on SAPA business. Updates from NAPA, the Asphalt Institute, and the Asphalt Pavement Alliance were the topic of discussion in the afternoon.
The 2020 SAPA officers were announced:
– Chair: Larry Patrick, Oklahoma
– Vice-Chair: Bruce Barkevich, New York
– Secretary: Kevin Monaco, New Jersey
– Treasurer: Reed Ryan, Utah
Nikki Luong from Austin Tsutsumi & Associates, Inc. attended part of the morning business meeting and joined the group for lunch. Luong is the leader of the Hawaii Branch of the Women of Asphalt (WofA). She had the opportunity to learn about the asphalt industry and meet members of the WofA.
