Construction Career Day (CCD) was conducted on November 15th at the University of Hawaii Maui College campus. The event attracted hundreds of students from high schools and other educational institutions.
HAPI participated as an exhibitor. About 100 students and staff visited our table manned by Jon Young and Lynn Young. Students could help themselves to a HAPI pencil or HAPI sticker.
As she does at these event, Lynn focused her attention on our popular “Paving Train” activity, that teaches students about the steps required to resurface a road. Over 70 student participated in this activity for a change to win a $25 gift card.
While Lynn was busy with the students, Jon concentrated on showing faculty advisors and teachers our interactive activity, that lets students explore different career paths in our industry. He also provided our 4-page brochure gives 3 reasons why the asphalt industry is an awesome career choice, which includes a link to our interactivity activity.
HAPI thanks the students and faculty that stopped by our table. We hope that they gained knowledge of the various careers in the asphalt industry and of the equipment used to construct an asphalt pavement.
