Executive Director Jon Young, along with several HAPI members, attended the GCA Construction update dinner held at the Pomaikai Ballrooms in Dole Cannery on August 18. Presentations were made by Department of Transportation (DOT), City and County of Honolulu, Department of Design and Construction (DDC), Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS), and Department of Education (DOE).
Highlights:
DOT: Presented an overview of the Master Plan for Honolulu International Airport and upcoming improvements for Kahului Airport.
DDC: Discussed “Complete Streets” using the Haleiwa Improvement District as an example.
DAGS: Review the complex procurement system and provided an interesting graphic of the system (see presentation).
DOE: Explained their version of Design-Build projects.
