Mark Wong, Director and Chief Information Officer, Department of Information Technology, City and County of Honolulu
Presentation:
Mr. Wong will discuss the City’s Lokahi system, which uses all the latest technology and includes more than 17,000 layers of infrastructure and property data that can be viewed or displayed depending on the situation. He will describe the system in relation to street usage permits and project coordination that improves effectiveness of the paving program and reduces project conflicts. Mr. Wong will also present the City’s plans for future access by consultants to the information in the system and future enhancements of the system.
Bio:
Mark Wong began his IT career over four decades ago as a programmer/analyst with Yale University working with Unix and mainframes. In 1981, he started a consulting business specializing in Unix and TCP/IP, and incorporated it in 1986 as Commercial Data Systems. Under Mark’s leadership, CDS grew to be the largest local IT company in Hawaii. Mark sold CDS in 2012, and was appointed CIO for the City and County of Honolulu in 2013.
