Title: Intro to Balanced Mix Design
\n
Speaker: Jon M. Young\, Hawaii Asphalt Pavement Industry<
/p>\n
Balanced Mix Design (BMD) is coming soon to Hawaii. Working togeth er\, HDOT and HAPI\, moving forward with the implementation.
\nBMD i s an enhanced approach to designing asphalt paving mixtures to achieve a s atisfactory balance between rutting resistance and crack resistance. It pr omises to result in longer lasting asphalt pavements.
\nThis session will cover the basics of BMD and what’s happening in other states.

In recent years\, HDOT Highways Division has added the use of P MA and SMA to the tool box of asphalt mixes. They are doing a project with mixes that use a plastic additive and mixes with 50% RAP.
\nJoin us to learn more about these technologies and what HDOT has in store for the future.
